HUM 2250 — 20TH AND 21ST CENTURY HUMANITIES

Integrated examination of dominant ideas in Western culture covering period from the turn of the twentieth century to the present. Focuses on creative forces which have shaped contemporary consciousness from pioneering work of Einstein, Picasso, Stravinsky and Wright through dominance of objective consciousness to newly emerging guiding myths of today. Affords students the ability to think critically through the mastering of subjects concerned with human culture, especially literature, history, art, music, and philosophy, and will include selections from the Western canon.
