Integrated examination of dominant ideas in Western culture covering period from the Renaissance to the Baroque era, emphasizing synthesis of Classical and Christian ideals, the influence of Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern civilizations on Europe, and of European civilization on Africa and the Americas. Affords students the ability to think critically through the mastering of subjects concerned with human culture, especially literature, history, art, music, and philosophy, and will include selections from the Western canon.
