This course is an overview of fire protection and emergency services, including career opportunities in related fields, the culture and history of emergency services, and fire loss analysis. It also covers the organization and function of public and private fire protection services, fire departments as part of local government, and the laws and regulations affecting the fire service. Since this course is approved as a New Student Experience (NSE) substitute course at Valencia College, it also explores the many educational, financial, and personal resources and support systems that are available at the college to help with academic and personal success.
