FAS 2010C — PRINCIPLES OF AQUACULTURE

Provides an overview of the field of aquaculture, including water quality, production systems, nutrition, spawning, and the common fish and invertebrate groups cultured in the United States. The purpose of this course is to develop an understanding of commonly used culture systems, to become familiar with the fundamentals of fish and shellfish husbandry, and to gain an appreciation of aquaculture’s roles in natural resource management, the human food supply, and the global economy. Labs will include hands-on management of an aquaculture system. (Special Fee $82.00).
