Respiratory Therapy (AAS)

The Muskegon Community College Respiratory Therapy Program leads to an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree, preparing graduates for NBRC national credentialing exams and state licensure, including the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential. The face-to-face program covers adult, neonatal, and pediatric critical care, integrating didactic and clinical instruction. Respiratory Therapists work in hospitals, diagnostic labs, rehabilitation centers, and home care agencies performing therapeutic procedures, mechanical ventilator support, and diagnostic testing. A distance education option is available through Munson Medical Center and Northwestern Michigan College. The program holds Continuing Accreditation from CoARC. Intake is limited to 30 students each Fall semester.

Prerequisites: High school graduation or GED, High school Biology (1 unit recommended), High school Chemistry (1 unit recommended), High school General Math (1 unit recommended), High school Algebra (2 units recommended), High school English (3-4 units recommended), ENG-101 English Composition, Math-100H Math for Health Sciences, BIOL-152 L&L Anatomy, BIOL-252 L&L Physiology, CHEM-109 Chemistry for Health Sciences L&L or CHEM-100 Fundamentals of Chemistry L&L, AH-101 Medical Terminology, Criminal background check and drug screen, Immunization records, Meet Program Technical Standards, Minimum grade of C (2.0) in all required courses
