This subject introduce students to the specialized functions and design principles of kitchen design. Students will conceptualize and design a kitchen. Conduct a client consultation to determine needs and requirements for the kitchen. Apply the design elements and principles to organize a functional and aesthetically pleasing space of their own design, or to appreciate the design of an existing kitchen. Explore the basic plumbing and electrical requirements that apply to kitchen a design. Develop a design concept. Evaluate and apply a client's criteria to produce a client-centered visual presentation of their own design of a given space, which will include finished floor plans, elevation drawings, appropriate samples of appliances, fixtures, lighting, furniture and upholstery fabrics, and written schedule to identify the information shown on the drawings. Present preliminary drawings, story board and complete an oral presentation of their design to their client and instructor.
