CECMMSR-ABA — Applied Behaviour Analysis

In phase one of this course, students study the theory of Applied Behaviour Analysis and its application for teaching people with intellectual disabilities. Through case studies in the classroom, students are expected to develop Instructional Plans which include the development of client centered Goals and Behavioural Ojectives, and create written teaching strategies using such methodologies as 'Shaping, Fading and Chaining' procedures. As well, this course exposes students to the principles of positive and negative reinforcements, schedules of reinforcement, task analysis and data collection. Phase two of this course involves students developing and implementing Instructional Plans using Applied Behaviour Analysis for actual clients while on a 9 week On-the-Job-Training placement with people with intellectual disabilities. Students must successfully develop & implement teaching plans, collect data and evaluate client progress as a prerequisite for graduation from the Human Services program.
