The Private Security Certificate provides entry-level education and hands-on training to enhance employability in the private security field. Students acquire skills in weaponry (including firearms and tasers), controlled force, and chemical spray. The curriculum also covers the U.S. criminal justice system, processing of juvenile and adult offenders, the trial process, and emergency preparation and crisis management. It is the only one-year certificate program of its kind in the State of Michigan to include a hands-on academy.
