WELD2300 — Introduction to Welding Automation

This course introduces students to automated welding processes with a focus on Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). Students will gain hands-on experience programming welding robots, developing fixtures for automated welding, and operating CNC plasma cutting systems. Emphasis is placed on robotic programming fundamentals, path planning, perch points, start/stop points, and integration with positioners. Students will also perform basic automation cost analysis and productivity comparisons with manual welding processes. Prerequisite(s): WELD 2200 & WELD 1110
