This course is an overview of fire characteristics, properties of water, apparatus, and appliances with an emphasis on developing proper fire streams using hydraulic calculations (theoretical and practical). It also covers drafting of water, velocity and discharge, friction loss, engine and nozzle pressure, pressure losses, municipal water supplies, standpipes and sprinklers, flow and pump testing, and applications in fire science.
