EDF 4603 - Issues in Classroom Management, Law, and Safety Add to Catalog Portfolio EDF 4603 - Issues in Classroom Management, Law, and Safety This course covers basic skills and knowledge for creating a safe environment that encourages learning, positive social interaction, and effective communication among students of diverse gender, ability, culture, language, race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. The course emphasizes attitudes, language patterns, communication, values, and behaviors for eliciting and maintaining student learning as well as on-task behaviors. Included are methods and strategies for communicating and working safely and effectively with students, other school professionals, community members, and parents. The course examines public and private school law as it affects teachers’ legal rights and legal responsibilities to students. The course covers ethical issues relevant to teaching and the development of one’s personal professional ethics.
