The course emphasizes attitudes, language patterns, communication, values, and behaviors for eliciting and maintaining student learning as well as on-task behaviors. Included are methods and strategies for communicating and working safely and effectively with students, other school professionals, community members, and parents. The course examines public and private school law as it affects teachers’ legal rights and legal responsibilities to students. The course covers ethical issues relevant to teaching and the development of one’s personal professional ethics.
