CJE 4692 - Technology and Crime Add to Catalog Portfolio CJE 4692 - Technology and Crime This course will introduce the student to recent advances in technology that impact investigations and crime prevention, including artificial intelligence. The course will examine strategic-level technologies such as databases, GIS systems, crime mapping by computer, etc. the course will examine ways in which technology assists law enforcement on a tactical level, through such innovations as in-car laptops, advanced communications devices, night-vision systems, etc. students who lack a thorough background in computers will benefit from this courses overview of technology basics. While not a Students will learn about the nationwide databases that share information, such as NCIC and AFIS, and how agencies are using database technology to combat the problems of fragmentation. Students will learn about geographic profiling and GIS systems, and their use on a strategic level. Terms all, Spring, Summer
