OTH 1001C - Introduction to Occupational Therapy and Lab OTH 1001C - Introduction to Occupational Therapy and Lab 4 hours Lecture, 4 hours Lab, 5 credits Lower-Division College Credit AA Elective: No This course introduces historical, philosophical, clinical, and ethical aspects of the occupational therapy profession and reviews national and state guidelines for certification and licensure. This course introduces the professional roles of the OTR (Occupational Therapist Registered) and COTA (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant), as well as the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework . The student studies occupation-based and holistic interventions, communication skills, and basic patient-care skills (e.g., infection control, patient transfer, patient positioning, and wheelchair mobility). The lab component provides hands-on opportunities to prepare for Level I Fieldwork (OTH 1800), which is scheduled in the summer. Search for Open Classes
