This course uses an international perspective to examine issues relevant to gender violence in its multiple forms. Discussions will address the history of domestic violence, current theories and research on the causes of violence in intimate domestic relationships, past and current responses, and intervention and prevention models to address this worldwide problem. By understanding the multiple approaches for addressing gender violence, students will acquire the knowledge of culturally competent intervention and prevention strategies. This course satisfies the Gordon Rule writing requirement. A grade of "C" or higher must be attained.
