This course is designed to provide an examination of the meaning and significance of multiculturalism and ethnic diversity. Students will study different cultural and ethnic groups and learn about issues involved in ethnicity and multiculturalism. Students will be exposed to concepts such as: culture sociocultural theory, diversity consciousness, identity assimilation, pluralism, stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, conflict and diversity skills. Students will also be exposed to historical, political, economic, sociological and psychological components of multiculturalism. This course satisfies the Gordon Rule writing requirement.
