A non-laboratory course for students not planning to major in biology or for students preparing to take BSC 1085. Topics include scientific literacy, chemical and cellular foundations of life, metabolism, genetics, fundamental structure and functions of human body systems, infectious diseases, and how they relate to health, societal, and bioethical issues. A grade of “C” or higher must be attained. 45 class hours
