This non-credit enrichment course provides an overview of essential automotive maintenance that vehicle owners can safely perform at home! It teaches everyday vehicle owners how to safely maintain their vehicle, recognize warning signs, perform basic service tasks, and communicate effectively with repair shops—without needing professional tools or a lift. Topics for this community-focused course include: shop and driveway safety, basic hand tools, fluid and filter service, tire inspection and replacement, brake and suspension awareness, introductory electrical systems, and interpretation of common warning indicators. Participants will also learn how to read maintenance schedules and communicate effectively with automotive repair facilities. All instructions are limited to non-invasive procedures and demonstrations. No professional certification is awarded. WEEK 1 — SAFETY, TOOLS & VEHICLE BASICS (2 Hours) Participants will safely prepare a vehicle for maintenance and understand basic tools, fasteners, and vehicle information. WEEK 2 — FLUIDS & FILTERS (2 Hours) Participants will check, identify, and service basic fluids and filters safely. WEEK 3 — TIRES, BRAKES & SUSPENSION AWARENESS (2 Hours) Participants will inspect tires, understand brake warning signs, and safely change a tire. WEEK 4 — ELECTRICAL BASICS & SMART REPAIR DECISIONS (2 Hours) Participants will perform basic electrical checks and communicate effectively with repair shops.
