XLI 9162 - Girls Learning Industrial Trades to Empower and Redefine - GLITTER Camp 16 Contact Hours (Offered as needed) Nationally-awarded NWF Welding Instructor, Scottie Smith, designed an engaging curriculum to introduce female high school students to the industrial trades. The program is a 4-day hands-on immersive experience where participants work with • Computer aided drafting (CAD) • Use CNC machining equipment • Weld together a sculpture (dragon fly) • Lean leadership skills • Tour local manufacturing companies • Hear from guest speakers from the Northwest Florida Manufacturers Council At the end of the camp, each student will have a personally-created work of art to take home. A completion ceremony will be had on June 7 at 1:00pm where parents/mentors will be invited to attend and celebrate the participant’s accomplishments and few their displays and tour the NWFSC facilities. Personal protective equipment will be provided. The students are required to wear leather, closed toe shoes. Safety toe work boots are highly recommended, but not required.
