XCJ 6161 -- Managing and Communicating with Offenders 40 Contact hours (Offered as needed) Persons with mental illness, substance abuse, and co-occuring disorders are a large and growing population among correctional facilities. This course identifies management and communication skills for dealing with offenders who have mental illness, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders where such skills may increase the safety and security of officers and inmates in correctional facilities. This course will also be helpful to officers in general that may come in contact with persons that have such disabilities.
