PHT 1007 -- Topics in Physical Therapy 3 Credit Hours (Offered Spring) This course introduces students to the physical therapy profession, including its history, ethical foundations, practice settings, current trends, medical terminology, and professional issues. Emphasis is placed on understanding the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members, physical therapy personnel, and communication skills essential for effective patient care. The course also addresses regulatory agencies and reviews the rules, laws, and practice standards that govern physical therapy. Additionally, students will examine the psychological and sociological effects of disability, with attention to the influence of culture and socioeconomic factors on patients and their families. This course requires a grade of C or higher. Prerequisite(s): Admission to the PTA Technical Program.
