NUR1021C — Nursing Process I

NUR 1021C -- Nursing Process I 6 Credit Hours (Offered Fall, Spring) This course introduces concepts and principles of holistic nursing care. Students will build on knowledge obtained in the biophysical and psycho-social sciences in this first of four required theory courses in the nursing curriculum. Content includes an introduction to healthcare systems, ethical-legal aspects of nursing practice, health and illness, communications, functional health patterns of clients, stress-adaptation, professional behaviors, and all steps of the nursing process with emphasis on assessment of older adult clients. Students begin socialization into the role of the Associate Degree Nurse as a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
