MEA 0521 -- Phlebotomy for Medical Assisting 75 Clock Hours (Offered Fall) This hands-on course prepares students with the skills needed for entry-level work in phlebotomy and provides foundational training for Medical Assistants involved in intravenous therapy. Students will learn proper specimen collection techniques through venipuncture and capillary puncture. The course also emphasizes infection control, safety procedures, and effective patient communication to ensure professional and accurate care. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Medical Assisting Program Corequisites: MEA 0501, MEA 0002, HCP 0001
