DAN 2120 --Dance Appreciation 3 Credit Hours (Summer) This course provides a foundational study of dance as an art form, entertainment, and cultural expression, emphasizing its historical development and significance within Western and global contexts. Students explore major dance genres—not limited to ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, and world dance—through lectures, discussions, and multimedia presentations. The course highlights key periods of dance history, influential choreographers, and their works, while selected movement experiences offer practical insight into diverse cultural traditions. Critical analysis and reflective inquiry support students in developing a deeper understanding and personal appreciation of dance aesthetics. This is a non-activity course.
