(Spring) Focusing on concepts and principles of holistic nursing care, this course builds upon knowledge acquired as a LPN and in the LPN to RN Bridge I course. Theory content includes planning care for adult clients experiencing threats to functional health patterns. Basic concepts and principles are built upon focusing on interpersonal relationships of adult and elderly clients. Students develop critical thinking skills through case studies and simulation scenarios planned to provide problem-solving skills in analyzing, planning and prioritizing care for clients with chronic or acute health problems. While caring for the adult with specific dysfunctional health patterns, the student will have additional opportunities to apply knowledge, skills and attitudes related to effective safety, communication, documentation, critical thinking, problem-solving and caring interventions. Conflict management skills are highlighted as the student increases in his/her role as a team member and manager of care. Prerequisite: Minimum grade of “C” in NUR 1004C and HUN 2201.
