(Fall, Summer) MAC 2140 is designed for all students whose major requires the calculus sequence. The major topics included are the following: polynomial, rational, and other algebraic functions, their properties and graphs; exponential and logarithmic functions; piecewise defined functions; conic sections; sequences and series; mathematical induction; Binomial Theorem applications, theory of equations and inequalities; partial fraction decomposition, and review of algebra skills used in calculus. The T1-83 or TI-84 graphing calculator is required. Prerequisite: Minimum grade of “C” in MAC 1105 or an appropriate mathematics placement test score on a postsecondary readiness test.
