(On Demand) (ECPC Program – Course 1) This course covers the competencies for the Department of Children and Families and general competencies for initial employment. Students will acquire competency in state rules and regulations that govern child care; child abuse and neglect; establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy learning environment; food service and nutrition; principles of child development, both typical and atypical; developmentally appropriate practices for programs serving children birth to age twelve; communication skills relating to child care; observation and recording methods; and appropriate methods of guidance.
