ETS1511 — MOTORS AND CONTROLS: 3 Credits, 3 Hours

(Fall) This course develops practical hands-on knowledge in the theory, operation, installation, and maintenance of DC and AC electric motors, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and their various types of manual, magnetic, and electronic controls commonly found in industrial applications today. The course also includes a familiarization with NEC and NEMA codes and standards as they relate to motors, controls, and enclosures. Limited coverage of troubleshooting of motor and control problems is also included. The laboratory will reinforce the principles learned through hands-on experiments.
