(Spring A) This course is designed as an introduction to the criminal justice system, exploring the history, development and changing philosophies of our system. The roles of law enforcement, the courts and correctional agencies will be explained and analyzed in terms of their procedures and the issues that arise in the execution of these procedures. The interrelationship of the various parts of the system will also be emphasized. Prerequisite: Successful completion of an NFC developmental reading course option or appropriate reading placement score on a postsecondary readiness test. Exemptions may exist; consult an academic advisor.
