(Fall) A survey of the development of Florida from the discovery, exploration and colonization to the present. The course includes a study of Florida’s Spanish heritage, its territorial days, the period of the Civil War and Reconstruction and an evaluation of modern Florida’s industrial and urban characteristics. Prerequisite: Successful completion of NFC developmental reading and writing course options or appropriate reading and writing placement scores on a postsecondary readiness test. Exemptions may exist; consult an academic advisor.
