Architecture

Degree

Architects plan and design houses, factories, office buildings, and other structures, developing plans in offices and visiting construction sites to review project progress. Growing demand exists for architects with knowledge of sustainable (green) design—buildings that efficiently use energy and water, reduce waste and pollution, and apply environmentally-friendly materials and specifications. Employment of architects is projected to grow 4 percent from 2016 to 2026. The program leads to an Associate in Science and Arts (ASA) with Michigan Transfer designation.
