Dentistry

Degree

Dentists diagnose and treat problems with patients' teeth, gums, and related parts of the mouth. Muskegon Community College offers an Associate in Science and Arts (ASA) degree as a transfer pathway toward a four-year institution, as dentistry ultimately requires a doctoral or professional degree. Licensure is required in the state of practice, typically involving graduation from an accredited dental school and written and practical exams. Employment of dentists is projected to grow 19 percent from 2016 to 2026, driven by an aging population and growing links between oral and overall health.
