Degree

Athletic trainers specialize in preventing, diagnosing, and treating muscle and bone injuries and illnesses. Students may earn an Associate in Science and Arts (ASA) degree at Muskegon Community College to transfer to a four-year college or university. Athletic trainers require at least a bachelor's degree; most states require licensure or certification. Employment settings include schools, hospitals, fitness centers, physicians' offices, and professional sports teams. Employment is projected to grow 23 percent from 2016 to 2026.
