ED260 — Engaging Elem Learners wMath

The goal of this course is to focus on content and children's mathematical thinking about content critical for teaching mathematics in elementary school. This course will support your understanding of the role of representations in whole number operations, the meaning of fractions, and operations with fractions and decimals. Pedagogically, the course will focus on strategies to elicit children's mathematical thinking as well as interpreting children's mathematical work to assess understanding and inform instruction. This is a methods course. 25 hours of fieldwork are required in a K to 6th grade classroom.
