In this course, students will engage in a comprehensive study of the origins and development of dance as an art form, tracing its evolution from its inception in primitive cultures to the present day. The course will explore the cultural, historical, and social contexts that shaped the various styles and techniques of dance throughout history. Students will analyze and critique significant dance works, including those from the Western canon, to gain a deeper understanding of the artistic, aesthetic, and expressive elements of dance.
