This course introduces students to the central sterile processing department and role and responsibilities of the central processing distribution technician. Topics include infection control, decontamination, disinfection, assembly, inspection, and preparation and packaging of instruments and other items for sterilization. Students will also learn about the principles of sterile storage, distribution inventory control, and information technology. (4 billable contact hrs)
