(replaces but does not equate to NURS-1730) This patient-centered clinical course helps students develop skills in providing and managing nursing care for adult patients. Utilizing the nursing process, the student will develop critical thinking, communication skills, application of technology, and professional responsibility while safely caring for adult patients with surgery, acid-base imbalance, diabetes mellitus, and respiratory and gastrointestinal problems. New skills emphasized during this rotation include NG tubes, chest tubes, IV/IVPB, and blood and blood product transfusions. This course is graded on a pass/fail basis. Students are required to pass this course to progress in the program. (5.5 billable contact hrs)
