Diversity can have a profound influence on children’s development and learning. Students in this course explore areas of diversity, including developmental and learning needs, sexuality, ethnicity as well as the impact of living in poverty. Students will reflect on their own prejudices and biases and become aware of how messages of bias are passed on to children. Students will learn how to create an environment that fosters an appreciation of diversity, recognizes unfairness, and develops skills to act against prejudice.
