MLS 2307 — Hematology II and Hemostasis

This is a continuation of MLS 2304. Students will continue to work with blood cell differentiation and hematology instru- mentation. An emphasis will be placed on abnormal cell iden- tification, and white blood cell abnormalities in leukemia, myeloproliferative, lymphoproliferative, and myelodysplastic disorders. This course will cover theory of hematological la- boratory techniques including staining techniques and the identity of normal and abnormal blood cells. In addition, co- agulation and hemostasis concepts, and instrumentation will be taught along with coagulopathies and platelet disorders.
