CVT 2421C — Invasive Cardiovascular II

This course is designed to tie together cardiac disease pro- cesses with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheteriza- tion procedures. Students will be presented with classifications and the use of equipment, and techniques used in invasive cardiology. An in-depth presentation of various cardiac diseases including coronary artery disease, angina, my- ocardial infarction, heart failure, valve diseases, cardiomyopa- thies, pericardial disorders, arrhythmias, congenital anomalies, pharmacology, and repair procedures is also presented. Addi- tionally, students learn the various calculations performed in the catheterization lab including cardiac outputs, vascular re- sistance, valve areas and stunts.
