This course examines the historical and current perspectives of the science of abnormal behavior. Topics include classification, diagnosis, theories, assessment methods, treatment, preven- tion, and legal and ethical issues. The course will also discuss the importance of empirically-based treatments. The impact of mental illness on the individual, family, and society are ex- plored. level reading and writing skills are required.
