Provides a basic understanding of materials and manufactur- ing processes consistent with sound engineering principles; fo- cuses on the most prevalent sources of building materials, including wood, concrete, masonry, metals, plastics, glass and composites. Materials are evaluated with respect to relevant codes and trade publications, including the AISC, ACI, APA, ASTM and UL. Elements of sustainable design explored.
