PHT2801 — PTA Clinical Practice I

Students are assigned to an agency providing physical therapy services for an introductory (full-time, 40 hours/week for 4 weeks) experience in the application of skills learned in the classroom to patients in the clinical setting. Students implement PT treatments and perform specific clinical tasks under the close supervision of a physical therapist. This is an introductory experience and emphasis is on developing ease in the moving and handling of patients; confidence in communicating and interacting with staff, patients, and their families; sharpened powers of observation; and an understanding of the role of the physical therapist assistant. A Patient Care Study is completed along with pertinent literature review. Grade mode: pass/fail. +#
