An introduction to pole climbing, pole top construction and load lifting and handling. This course will emphasize safe and proper use of pole climbing equipment, including inspection and maintenance of pole climbers, body belts, and other safety related equipment. Pole top construction will include actual construction of utility plant under un-energized conditions. Students will learn how to splice rope, tie knots, and use rope to life tools and equipment necessary for the construction of new and maintenance of existing overhead electrical lines. 121
