CHM 201 — Organic Chemistry I

A general course in organic chemistry for science, engineering, and pre-professional students. The preparations and properties of many types of organic compounds are studied and the relationships between structure and reactivity are emphasized. Mechanism and elementary transition state theory are introduced where appropriate. The accompanying laboratory teaches students some of the basic experimental techniques of the organic chemist, and gives them an opportunity to prepare and identify many different classes of organic compounds. 103
