Motorcycle Safety Basic Rider Course (BRC)

The Basic Rider Course is a hands-on motorcycle safety program for beginners or riders with limited experience at Glen Oaks Community College. Over 2–3 days (15+ hours), students learn motorcycle controls, safe riding strategies, braking, cornering, obstacle avoidance, and Michigan motorcycle laws. Upon completion, participants receive a card accepted by the Michigan Secretary of State, waiving the written and riding tests required for a motorcycle endorsement. Cost is $50 (state-subsidized for Michigan residents). Motorcycles are provided; participants must supply their own DOT-approved helmet and riding gear. Classes run weekly April through September in morning or afternoon sessions.

Prerequisites: Must be 15 years old or older, Complete the free MSF eCourse (5 hours) before class, Print and complete the MSF Course Waiver, Students under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver
