MVS 2222 - Applied Music Instruction: Viola MVS 2222 - Applied Music Instruction: Viola 1 credit Thirty minutes of private instruction per week equals one credit hour. It is recommended that music majors take weekly lessons in their principal instruments. Seats in applied music classes are limited. Permission of the Dean, Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences is required. These lessons are not intended for beginners. Full-time music majors have first priority. Full-time (12 hours) degree-seeking students have second priority; students who need a one-credit-hour course to “fill” their load do not qualify, nor do those who are just learning to play an instrument. Part-time students who are likely to become full time have third priority. Community members have fourth option on remaining seats, exclusive of those who have repeated a course more than once. All students enrolled in applied music lessons must receive approval and certification of demonstrated advanced accomplishment by the professor, the written permission of the Dean, and must show evidence of having enrolled in an ensemble. The written permission shall designate the criteria (1, 2, 3 or 4 as listed above) under which the student is granted approval. Students must be accommodated in priority order; i.e., criteria one students have first priority, then criteria two students, etc. A form will be provided for this process.
