EMS 2271C - Paramedic I Add to Personal Catalog EMS 2271C - Paramedic I College Required Grade: Pass with a C or better First semester theory course teaching the role and function of the paramedic, ethical and legal aspects of EMS, overview of anatomy and physiology, patient assessment skills, fluid and electrolytes, use of blood and related hazards, shock and management of shock, IV therapy, respiratory systems indices and pathophysiology, management of respiratory problems, and recognition and implications of emotionally disturbed patients. Advanced Extrication and BTLS/PHTLS will be included as part of the course schedule for the fall semester and must be successfully completed to receive credit for EMS 2271C - Paramedic I.
