The principles of electromagnetism are discussed and applied to the theory and the operation of DC motors, AC motors, permanent magnet, and brushless DC motors. Motor components, starting requirements, characteristics, maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques are discussed in lecture and applied in laboratory exercises. Credit may be earned in ET 139 or SKET 139 but not both.
