1. Survey of major American authors, literary works, and themes from Colonial times through Reconstruction (may include up to the turn of the century). 2. Recognition of the major characteristics of early American literature. 3. Basic written analysis of American literary works to the civil war. AML 2010 fulfills 6,000 words of the Gordon Rule writing requirement. Prerequisites: Grades of “C” or higher in ENC 1101-1102.
