This course is designed to provide students with the theory and practice in public speaking with an emphasis on audience and situational adaptation, support and organization of ideas; while factoring audience attention and effective delivery. This course will explore the fundamental training and practical experience for speaking in public, business, and professional situations. Topics include: audience analysis, speech anxiety, critical listening, and preparation and delivery of speeches in various cultural contexts. Students will also learn to effectively incorporate audio and visual aids/ technologies for effective speeches and demonstrate the ability to write clearly. SPC1608 meets the International/Intercultural competency requirement.
